Jury awards $241 million in trial against well-known dairy company |
A Madison County jury has awarded $241,000,000 to the family of a man who died while transporting dry ice as part of his job as a courier. The man was never warned that the strawberries he was delivering would be kept cold in dry ice, which can be deadly due to oxygen displacement, and there were no warning labels on the coolers. |

Chicago City Council approves $27M settlement for deadly crash stemming from an unauthorized police chase |
The settlement stems from a case involving the wrongful death of 47-year-old Stacy Vaughn-Harrell, who was killed when Chicago Police officers violated their training and CPD general orders by pursuing a vehicle in an unmarked SUV – without activating their siren to warn others of the oncoming danger. The $27 million settlement was unanimously approved by the City’s Finance Committee on March 13, 2026, and the full City Council voted to approve the settlement during their weekly meeting the following week. |
