When the Seasons Change, Mood Can Too |
|
|
| Shorter days. Less sunlight. Changes in sleep, energy, motivation, and even how social we feel.
Seasonal shifts can affect mental health in very real ways—but experiencing a difficult stretch during winter doesn’t necessarily mean you have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
So how do you tell the difference?
Our two latest articles take a closer look at seasonal depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder, including the symptoms they can share, what makes a recurring seasonal pattern clinically significant, and when it may be worth talking with a psychiatric provider.
Whether you’ve noticed a change for the first time or find yourself struggling around the same season each year, understanding the pattern can be an important first step.

Dr. Richmond and his team are the best I've ever encountered. I've been to many different psychiatrists over the years due to moves and changing insurances, and they're my favorite. Dr. Richmond is not only extremely competent, he has a warm and assuring manner.

I cannot recommend this office and Dr Richmond enough! I know how difficult it is to find someone who actually truly cares for their patients, listens to them and makes them feel comfortable despite discussing sensitive mental conditions. You know you will be cared for with respect and empathy, never rushed, if you see anyone in his office!

About Psyche PCAdvanced Psychiatric Care. Collaborative Approach. |
|
| Psyche PC was founded by Dr. Jeffrey Richmond, a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to helping adults access innovative, evidence-based psychiatric care in Colorado.
Our practice provides medication management, Spravato® (Esketamine), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for patients experiencing treatment-resistant mental health conditions. We do not offer psychotherapy, but we work collaboratively with referring providers to support each patient’s treatment plan and continuity of care.
As new psychiatric treatments continue to move through research and regulatory review, Psyche Denver remains focused on what patients can safely access now: compassionate, clinically guided care delivered in a professional setting. |

We’re proud to support psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and patients across Colorado.
